Realistic Fiction Story Instructions

Students will be able to be authors and illustrators of their own realistic fiction stories.  The setting of the story must take place during this COVID-19 Pandemic. The story must contain a clear beginning, middle, and end. It must also have characters and a setting. Part of the setting is already given so students will need to come up with the location in which their stories will take place. Lastly, the story needs to contain 2-3 pieces of factual information related to the pandemic. This information can either be given to students or the teacher could have them research the information themselves. I would prefer providing the students with all needed information. This would include statistics on the people who lost their jobs because of this pandemic, information about the PPE shortage, or the decrease in pollution since we have been quarantined. The teacher should keep the focus away from the death toll simply because this assignment is to help bring light to this already scary situation.

The setting of this assignment can be adapted to other future or even past historic events.
