Math Flower Activity

This activity is not only perfect for the Spring, but it also serves a great review activity for students!

The goal is to not only teach them new things, but to keep the past things they’ve learned fresh on their minds.

This activity is a great way to do that!

Instructions:

Cut out 7 circles from construction/computer paper.

Cut out a thin, long piece of construction/ computer paper in the shape of a rectangle (this will serve as the stem)

Then, cut out two pieces of construction/computer paper that can serve as the leaves on a stem.

Now, you will put your flower together.

Now, that you’ve created your flower we can now move on to the math part of this activity.

Step 1:

Write a number 5-15 in the middle of your flower.

Step 2:

Write one of the following on each petal of your flower at the top.

  • Subtraction Sentence

  • Addition Sentence

  • Number Word

  • Tens Frame

  • Tally

  • Place Value

Step 3:

For this step, you’re going to use the categories in step 2, using the number that you chose to go in the middle of your flower.

Remember, that each petal should equal the number that’s in the middle of your flower. For example, if I was to pick 6. My subtraction sentence could be 9-3=6.

After completing step you will have created a beautiful math flower
